State level Achievement Survey for class III V and VII (Research summary)


Objectives of the study.
 

  1. The level of achievement of children at the end of class III V and VII in govt. schools in language, mathematics, Science and Environmental, Science.
     
  2. Difference in achievement categorywise, genderwise and rural- urban pattern.
     
  3. Influence of intervening variables like home, school teacher and school management committee.
     
  4. Impact of child entitlement and SSA activities implemented in schools on children's achievement level.


Sample of the study

 

The study was conducted in 06 districts and from each district's 500 students were selected from class III, V and Class VII each.

To improve the situation following should be done.

 

  1. Pupil teacher's ratio should be maintained.
     

  2. Rationalisation of teachers should be done.
     

  3. Teacher's training should be reflected in classroom transaction.
     

  4. No detention policy should be reconsidered.

 

Summary of ‘study on teacher’s Absenteeism in Primary and upper primary schools of Jharkhand

 

 Major Findings :

 

  1. Overall percentage of teaching day lost due to teachers remains absent from school is found 13.6%
  2. Jamtara has the maximum percent 18 % teaching days lost due to teacher remains absent while Lohardaga has the minimum percent 9 %
  3. Lohardaga has the maximum percent (85 %) of teachers present on a working day while Jamtara shows the minimum percent (72%)
  4. 21.06 % is teacher absenteeism rate in the state.
  5. All districts have shown below absenteeism rate than state average.(district wise breakup of absenteeism rate enclosed).
  6. Absenteeism rate varies from the maximum percent 28% in Jamtara and minimum percent 15% in Lohardaga.
  7. Regular teachers showed higher absenteeism rate compared to Para teachers.
  8. Female teachers have more absenteeism rate than male teachers.
  9. Teachers belonging different social groups has almost similar absenteeism rate.
  10. As per the ‘head masters’ opinion the main reasons of the teachers absenteeism are health problem of teacher and family problems.
  11. Distance from residence to school is also effecting teacher absenteeism rate
  12. Teacher training during working days in seems to be a reason for teacher absenteeism..
  13. Head teacher/assistant teacher is spending more than 6 to 7 hours per week for the  administrative work.
